Major arcana
The High Priestess
One of the twenty-two major arcana.
A seated figure in a blue robe waits between a black pillar and a white one, a veil of pomegranates behind and a thin water beyond the cloth. A scroll lies half-hidden across the lap, more studied than displayed. The crescent moon rests at the feet, and the whole pose suggests that speech would be a coarser tool than attention.

Upright, or the open face
The High Priestess is knowledge that has not agreed to become a post. You are asked to keep a confidence — your own or another person's — and to trust the part of you that reads a room before explaining it. Stillness here is study without an audience, not emptiness and not a pose of mystery. Let the unsaid stay unsaid until you know what it is for.
Reversed, or the pressured face
Pressured, secrecy curdles into isolation, or a fog gets named intuition so a fact never has to be checked. You may be withholding something honesty owes, or drowning a clear knowing in other people's noise. The card asks you to sort silence that protects from silence that merely delays.
Questions
- What do I know that I have not yet written in plain words to myself?
- Is this quiet protective, or is it avoidance with beautiful lighting?
- Whose voice have I treated as more sacred than my own memory?
A grounded example
A message from an old friend waits while you reread a journal from the year you stopped trusting the thread. You do not owe a performance of instant forgiveness, and you do not owe a disappearance. You close the laptop, keep the insight, and wait until a reply can be sent without a trial or a vanishing act.
