Wands · page

A youthful figure in a tunic patterned with small flame-like creatures stands in a dry landscape, holding a tall sprouting staff and staring up at it as if it had just told a joke. Pyramids sit far behind, old and uninterested. The stance is curious, almost bouncing, and not yet a campaign.

Upright, or the open face

The page is a style of attention — eager, experimental, still willing to look unpolished — not a gender and not a personality prison you have to match or grow out of on schedule. You let yourself be new at a thing without demanding a masterpiece from the first hour; curiosity is the wand. Follow the heat that makes you want to learn, and say so when you do not know yet. Beginners move a culture more often than experts who have stopped being surprised.

Reversed, or the pressured face

Under strain the curiosity scatters into excuses, or it shows off before it has practiced anything a witness could respect. You may delay the first lesson because you want to arrive pre-skilled, or flare through a dozen hobbies and call the ash a range. Restless excess and a stalled spark are both the page in bad weather; you are not barred from making; you are being asked to stay for one repetition.

Questions

  • What am I curious about that I have not given a real, boring hour?
  • Where am I performing enthusiasm instead of studying the next step?
  • What would beginner dignity look like if nobody filmed it?

A grounded example

You walk into a beginner dance class and immediately distrust the mirror, which has opinions. Your feet miss the count, and the teacher corrects your shoulder without a speech about talent. You stay for the hour instead of narrating an elegant exit. Afterward you write down the single step you remember and the day you will try it again, not as a finished dancer but as someone who returned to the barre.
