Major arcana
The Moon
One of the twenty-two major arcana.
A moon with a face looks down a path that runs between two towers and off toward low hills. A dog and a wolf lift their heads at the water's edge, and a crayfish rises from the pool as if the unconscious had decided to grow legs; drops of light fall through the sky. The road does not explain itself, and the towers do not say which one is safe.

Upright, or the open face
The Moon is the hour when imagination, memory, and fear borrow one another's coats. You are not required to trust every story your mind tells in the dark, and you are not required to sneer at the ones that carry a real signal; walk slowly. Check what can be checked at a desk or with another person, and let the rest stay mysterious until morning gives it edges. Anxiety and intuition can share a voice; time is how you tell them apart.
Reversed, or the pressured face
In its pressured face the fog thickens into panic you obey, or you shut the inner life down because uncertainty feels like a personal failure. You may be deceiving yourself, or swimming in someone else's unclarity and calling the water yours. Held too long, confusion becomes a habitat; forced too soon, clarity becomes a lie with good posture.

A grounded example
You wake at three convinced you snapped at your housemate, then unsure the conversation happened outside a dream. You do not send a paragraph of apology to a sleeping person. You write what you remember, what you might have invented, and one question you will ask over breakfast. The kitchen light is a better courtroom than the ceiling was.
