Major arcana
The Tower
One of the twenty-two major arcana.
Lightning knocks the crown from a stone tower and two figures fall through a black sky, not yet landed. Flames show at the windows, and bright fragments scatter like sparks or broken letters; the building was high on purpose. It is not high now, and the rock below does not negotiate.

Upright, or the open face
The Tower is the collapse of a false structure: a story, a role, a workplace myth, a self-image that could stand only if nobody checked it. It is not a prediction of literal disaster, and it is not a wish that anyone be hurt. Shock belongs to the picture because some walls do not come down by polite request; what falls was already cracked. Get clear of the rubble, tell the truth about what the building was for, and refuse to rebuild the same lie one story taller.
Reversed, or the pressured face
Pressured, you prop the tower up with charm and overtime, delaying a break that would be cleaner now, or you become the lightning on purpose and blow up a room so you do not have to feel afraid. Internalized, the card is a catastrophe script you rehearse until ordinary exits disappear. The hard face is denial of a necessary fall, or a taste for extra rubble.
Questions
- What structure is standing only because everyone agrees not to look?
- Am I avoiding a necessary collapse, or causing extra damage?
- What is worth saving from the building, and what was only the crown?
A grounded example
In the group chat, someone posts the document history, and it shows who actually did the work. The friendly story — equal effort, no hard feelings — cracks in a single evening; voices spike. You do not add a joke to plaster it. You name what the record shows, you apologize for the part that was yours, and you let the chat stay awkward instead of false.
